local seo in 2018

As we enter the new year, now is a great time to give your business’s local SEO presence a substantial overview to make sure everything is up to snuff for 2018.  To help you get started, we created a short guide to help you optimize your Google MyBusiness listing and conduct your own local SEO audit, helping make sure you get in front of the potential customers searching for the goods and services you offer.

For those in Florida, BBEX Marketing is an established and experienced agency, helping business owners establish and grow their local SEO in Boca Raton.  Their experts keep up to date on local SEO trends and changes to keep your business on top of search results.

Google MyBusiness Page Setup and Optimization Tips

If you haven’t done so already, you absolutely need to set up – and verify – a Google MyBusiness listing for each of your retail locations.  This is a very simple, straightforward process – it boils down to entering your address and contact information, filling out a brief description of your business, the products and services you provide, and finally receiving a postcard in the mail.  Once complete, potential customers will be able to find you when they search on Google for the products and services your business provides.

If you’ve already set up a MyBusiness page, now is the time to give it a comprehensive review to figure out what’s working and what’s not.  Some major things to keep an eye out for include:

  • Incorrect or outdated contact information, such as phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses, old fax numbers, etc.
  • Low resolution, outdated, or inaccurate photography that may depict your business in an unprofessional manner
  • Incorrect business hours, especially during the holidays
  • Ensure accurate geographic positioning on Google Maps for each individual location of your business to help customers find your brick and mortar stores

Once you’ve checked all these off, double check that you have verified your listing.  Google would’ve sent you a postcard asking you to verify a multiple digit code online, essentially to make sure that you legitimately own the business that you’ve registered an account for.  Furthermore, Google prefers you to register your MyBusiness account with an email using your domain (ex. name@yourcompany.com) instead of with a Gmail address, and will often reward you in the search results for doing so.

You can also utilize websites such as the Moz Local SEO tool (https://moz.com/local/search) to view a brief analysis of your local SEO presence.  This useful tool can show you and help you repair inaccuracies, missing information, and even help you locate duplicate listings, which you need to…

Eradicate Duplicate Listings

With so many internet accounts to manage these days, we can easily lose track of which websites we’ve already registered an account with.  It happens; maybe when we forgot our password, we created a brand new account out of frustration, or even just wanted a fresh start.  Unfortunately, Google demotes business listings in search results that appear multiple times to help fight against spam.  It’s important to make sure there are no outdated or duplicate listings for your business – if you find any, just give Google a call and get them removed.

BBEX Marketing has established their reputation as a trusted source that can help any business master their local SEO in Boca Raton, Florida or any other localization in the United States.
